Maryland Heights residents have a new place to stock up on groceries. The Dollar General on Fee Fee Road opened on Tuesday. The store, based in Maryland Plaza, has an array of grocery items and convenience products for which the chain is known.

I decided to check out the new Dollar General on Thursday morning. I was glad to see a number of grocery items I didn’t expect. I collected a haul of groceries to show what’s available at the store.

• Chef Boyardee Pizza Kit
• Frozen Banquet Fried Chicken
• Pens
• Batman stickers
• Grape-flavored water
• Milk

A note about the milk—when I got home I noticed the bottle was leaking. I don’t know if I bought it that way or it was jostled in the car, or was punctured while I positioned it to take pictures. The bottle had its seal intact, but I thought I’d mention it.

The store had frozen foods, cookies, chips and many other things you could find at a typical grocery store. Dollar General doesn’t have a produce section, but it does have canned vegetables.
