Donald Sobol, Creator of 'Encyclopedia Brown,' Dies
Local St. Louis County Library branches have many of the books showcasing Sobol's kid detective.
Donald J. Sobol, the writer who created the children’s book character Encyclopedia Brown, has died. The New York Times reported the writer lost a battle to gastric lymphoma at the age of 87.
Sobol’s books are widely available at the St. Louis County Library—including those branches that serve Maryland Heights.

I loved this book series when I was a kid. I remember the first one I read--I think I was 10?-- I read in a single evening. I had never done that before, and thought it was pretty cool.
