Former Parkway Student, Mother Shot to Death
A former Parkway School District student and her mother were shot to death in California, according to published reports.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that Amy Freeman Burton, 37, and her 13-year-old daughter Ainsley Freeman, a former Parkway student, were found shot to death in their San Francisco area home Monday.
According to the Danville, CA Patch, Burton's husband, Christopher Burton, reportedly found the victims and called police. Investigators said Burton is not a suspect, but he is a "person of interest" as they try to determine if this is a double murder or a murder-suicide.
According to the Pleasanton, CA Patch, Christopher said he and his wife contacted the police and the FBI in February because Ainsley was communicating with a 16-year-old male from Kentucky, via text messages and photos. Police do not believe that incident has anything to do with Monday's deaths.
Freeman Burton's mother, Linda Walp, lives in Chesterfield and said her daughter received death threats after police were notified about 13-year-old Ainsley communicating with that Kentucky teenager, the Post-Dispatch reported.
Walp said her daughter and granddaughter moved from O'Fallon, MO, to California in December because Burton's husband had been relocated there for work, the Post-Dispatch reported. According to the report, Ainsley attended the Parkway School District's Claymont Elementary School in Ballwin and then the Fort Zumwalt South Middle School in O'Fallon.
