Is the McDonald's Off Dorsett the Worst in the Country?
Two Maryland Heights Patch readers have left nasty reviews of the McDonald's off Dorsett Road. Is it really that bad?
Is the McDonald's restaurant off Dorsett Road the worst in the country when it comes to customer service?
At least two Maryland Heights Patch readers seem to think so.
On Tuesday, Donna H, a Maryland Heights Patch reader, left this review of the restaurant, located on 12680 Dorsett Rd.:
This McDonald's has absolutely the WORST service. The orders are wrong, and the employees don't care. I worked at McDonald's (Hwy 367) back in the early 70's. This terrible service and employee attitude would never have been tolerated. Over the years I have been to many McDonald’s and this one is by far at the bottom. Why can’t they get their act together? Management needs to be replaced and all the workers need to be re-trained.
Here at Patch, we thought it could have been an isolated incident. But then came another nasty review just hours later.
Bob Burns, another faithful Maryland Heights Patch reader, said he' had similar experiences.
I've had the same problems here. Been to McDonald's all over U.S. and El Salvador. Worst I've every been to.
Rarely do people identify the golden arches with impeccable customer service. Rather, most go to McDonald's—perhaps the most trafficked fast-food restaurant in the country—for a quick, affordable bite to eat.
What do you think about the McDonald's on Dorsett? Have you had a good or bad experience there? How does it compare to other McDonald's restaurants in and around the Maryland Heights-area?
In October, QSR Magazine unveiled its annual drive-thru study—a study that study determined the leading restaurant chains in several categories of drive-thru operations, such as wait time, service time, order accuracy, exterior appearance and speaker clarity. A group of six core chains were included in the study: Burger King, Chick-fil-A, Krystal, McDonald’s, Taco Bell, and Wendy’s.
Wendy's was found to have the best average service time, with an average time of 129.75 seconds. That's more than a minute better, on average, than Burger King, and about 20 seconds better than the next best rated restaurant, Taco Bell (149.69 seconds).
When it came to accuracy, Chick-fil-A leads the pack with a 92.4 percent accuracy rate. Burger King, again, came in trailing the field—its accuracy rate was 83 percent, the worst of all the restaurants rated.

If this concerns the McDonald's at 12680 Dorsett Rd the problem is that McDonald's is operated by McDonald's Corporation. There is no local franchisee who cares about the customers.

I'm afraid I would have to agree to these comments about this McDonalds. I have become accustom to double checking my order at the drive thru and asking the order taker to repeat what they just said. Not crazy about seeing employees on break smoking just outside the entrance. Just bad management

They get orders wrong a lot. I also ordered a mocha there and the lid came off as I was driving to work. Hot coffee all over me. I try to avoid this McDonalds.

I have not run into wrong orders there, but I have found the service to be slow. I only will go there if I am on my way home and have time to kill. Even if there is one person in line it can take a while.

If you'd really like to experience the worst McDs in the area, you'll need to go to the newly refurbed Westport location. The food (somehow) is never fresh, orders are mostly wrong, the wait time is way too high, and the managers don't care.

I was just going to ask that question, Sam. How do other McD's in the area stack up in terms of service, quality, etc.? Is the Westport one any better? What about a McDonald's location outside Maryland Heights? Say, in Creve Coeur?

It is much better than the one in st Ann on the rock road but I do agree they mess up a lot. I have to double check my order Everytime. I just recently moved to st Peter's and the jungerman location has reminded me how fresh fast food should be.

I actually will disagree. I go there once a week or every other week for breakfast and havent had any problems. The worst stores are on Howdershell and Shackleford, the two closest to me. I had an idiot employee after they overcharged me, ask for my debit card to put the wrong amount back on my card. They then asked me to give them my PIN. They couldnt figure out why I said no.
