I enjoyed living there 1963-1973. Of course that's when it was open space, woods and no city government. I live in Florida now, but from what I read in Patch, Maryland Heights has become a cesspool of dope, gambling, crime and governmental hijinks, as exemplified by the plan to put an outlet mall across from Creve Couer Park. So it goes.

The top 20? Even after a drunken illegal immigrant kills a young woman about a year ago? The illegal immigrant is released?
This is what a top 20 city has on it's resume'? I don't think so.
Have you seen the rest of the crimes committed in Maryland Heights and reported by Patch?
Puh leeze. Top 20 is crazy talk.

There's no going back to pre-historic Maryland Heights, but I'll bet there is interest in improving things and I hope it prevails. I appreciate Patch for reporting the news and not just being a civic cheerleader.

My husband and I used to go to the "Time of the Tiger" restaurant back in 1972 - 1973 (on Dorsett & 270) when we were in high school. We loved the area even back then.
We built our home in Maryland Heights in 1987 and could not be happier. Even though we got hit by the Tornado and the Hail Storm we have rebuilt and plan to stay in Maryland Heights until we retire and maybe even longer.
Crime is everywhere, but we all have to look out for each other. We know most of the people on our street and hang out with them.
Maryland Heights is a friendly place to live.
Stop the negativity and put a smile on your face. Top 20 is Great!
