Maryland Heights Social Media: Westport Plaza
Each week we show you how Maryland Heights businesses, non-profits and organizations use social media.
In addition to some of the best restaurants in Maryland Heights, Westport Plaza is home to multiple festivals and free community events.
"It's such a great space," said Emily Lewis, Westport's Director of Marketing and Special Events. "When promoting our events, you can't leave out Facebook. It's so popular, and it's a great way for us to get the word out to our regular customers as well as new people."
Westport Plaza leaves updates about individual restaurant or retail offerings to those businesses. Instead, their Facebook page focuses on plaza wide events like concerts, movie nights and festivals — such as February's Missouri Winefest.
Individuals and other businesses are also active on their Facebook site. A local singles group recently posted their Westport Pub Crawl on Westport Plaza's page and the City of Maryland Heights frequently cross-posts events.
Westport Plaza utilized the power of Facebook events to set up more than 10 public events last year. "Facebook event listings are always popular. They're just as effective as posting on our website," Lewis said.
