New Mizzou Uniforms: Love 'Em or Hate 'Em?
Five University of Missouri athletic teams will wear new Nike uniforms next season in an attempt to appeal to potential recruits.
The University of Missouri football Tigers held the annual "Black and Gold" scrimmage over the weekend at Faurot Field, but the reason why many in the crowd of roughly 18,000 showed up for spring practice had little to do with what was happening between the tackles Saturday.
Of greater interest was the chance to get a look at what the Tigers will WEAR from sideline to sideline starting next fall.
After months of hype, the school unveiled uniforms for the football squad along with new threads for both basketball teams, soccer and volleyball.

The fashion statement comes as the school makes the move from the Big 12 to the Southeastern Conference, and as athletic department officials told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, while Mizzou attempts to keep up with what is now an "arms race" to impress recruits.
For football alone, there are more than two dozen uniform combinations of black, gold and a shade of gray termed "anthracite", with the biggest change being the loss of the block "M" on the helmet.
How do you think local student athletes like Parkway North's Donavin Newsom will look in the football unforms? What about Marquette's Marquette's Ryan Rosburg, Saint Joseph's Academy's Stock sisters, or Kirkwood High School's Lianna Doty in the basketball outfits?
Give us your impressions in the comment section below.
And if you're a Mizzou baseball, track and field or other sports fan, have no fear. The rest of the school's teams will get new looks over the next two years.

I like the new uniforms. Contrary to what many believe, the "M" has not always been on the helmet. IMHO, and apparently other's, the "M" looks too much like Michigan's helmet. I wish they would wear the anthracite helmet with the anthracite "Black" uniforms. However, I must confess that I am old enough to remember a time when the guys on a football team would be embarrassed to show they were excited about their uniform. I like the other new uniforms, too--appears they are a nice, light material.

I hate the football uniforms shown here. It's yellow, not gold. The only worse Mizzou uniforms I've seen is once when Mizzou played Notre Dame, the Tigers came out in "special" unis, all canary yellow. You could tell the players were embarrassed to wear them. Notre Dame was killing them at halftime and I left--I had studying to do and the game had been awful. The Tigers came back to win in the second half, a lesson I haven't forgotten.

Thank you Joe I agree and remember the Notre Dame game and the yellow smoke, that was the beginning of the hype of college football era. The Post-Dispatch said it was like mustard gas. Unfortunately we have lost all sense of tradition in this country or at least part of it. I read all the articles and justification by the athletic department and it was weak. I have season tickets but plan to only go to Alabama, I guess what I think and believe are old fashion and to that I say good.
Thanks for your views.

I love them. They are fashion forward and very bold. The stripes cut into the legs and arms are very cool. I love the helmet. Love the grey stripes against the white uniform. BIG UPGRADE!

I hate them and the fact am amazed and would find it interesting what age group likes them, that would say a lot. MU has changed it's uniforms, logo, colors- more in the last 10 years with pinkel than any other time. As a life long MU fan and ticket holder I am disappointed at this "pop culture" attitude. I could accept the uniforms but not the helmets that is the last straw of tradition....Oh well speaks to where we are as a state and country. Glad I am moving soon, now support Alabama 10000% with my money

Hopefully, by the time a new recruit gets to Mizzou, they will have changed the uniforms back to what they were this past year.

The Tiger's head logo on their helmets are my favorite of all the changes made in the Mizzou football uniforms. They are awesome, and they are better than the old block "M" that they had from 1970 until last year. Whether its the new unis or the old unis, the Tiger's head logo definitely belongs on the helmets.
