School may be out for the summer, but local teachers are continuing to stay busy. From foreign travels to prepping for the school year, educators from across Pattonville School District are making the most of their summer.

We’ve compiled a quick list of a few teachers from around Pattonville and what their summer plans are.

• Peter Schmoker, a science and German teacher at Pattonville Heights Middle School: “In June I am taking students to Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. Then I will be helping to restore a French glass Factory from the 1200's. I will also be hiking and climbing in the Tarn region.”
• Donna Schmidt, a science teacher at Pattonville High School: “I am volunteering with Red Cross, I do it year round but I am on call for national disasters over the summer and doing some overnight on call too. I am taking a couple classes through them and next week I am participating in a workshop called Living Lands and Waters that is on the Missouri River. I will be taking my AP Environmental Science students to a similar workshop in the fall. I also did a Moodle workshop at the learning center and a curriculum workshop this week.”
• Tracey Robinson, a gifted education teacher at Remington Traditional School: “Take my kids everywhere (so far Bonne Terre Mine, Zoo, Butterfly House, Transportation Museum, Ste Genevieve and KC); maintain St. Louis Family Fun Website with places to go, things to do, etc, and a corresponding Facebook page; going on a Mission Trip to Joplin this summer with daughter; volunteer for church carnival June 30th and for VBS late July/early August; and continue to work on school things, my own professional development, if you will - trying things out on my kids and their friends!”
• Amy Bourland, a special education teacher at Parkwood Elementary School: “I work my dad's produce (BIG hobby farm) all summer.  2000+ tomato plants, 2000+ pepper plants, squash, melons, cucumbers....you name it, we probably grow it!  :)  I hoe, till, spray, pick and deliver all summer long with my two kids, and Mom and Dad!”
• Erika Sepanski, an industrial technology/hi-tech careers teacher at Pattonville Heights Middle School: “John (Sepanski, also a teacher at Pattonville Heights) and I are currently volunteering our time to be in charge of Jr. Sail Camp out at Carlyle lake. We started camp on Sunday and it ends on Saturday!!”
• Kim Heumann, a first grade teacher at Bridgeway Elementary School: “I am working in my classroom.  I've changed grade levels and classrooms and I am currently painting arranging and organizing my new digs!  (I've only had 2 days away from school so far).”
• Jennifer Ogle, a paraprofessional at Willow Brook Elementary: “This summer I went to the Autism Conference, I am doing the JCCA's summer day camp doing inclusion services supporting a child with Autism and Asperger Syndrome. I am getting married in July on the 14th, and I am teaching summer school at Rose Acres doing Kindergarten.”
• Adam Hall, instrumental music teacher at Holman Middle School: “Shadowing administrators during summer school for class work. Taking four graduate classes at Lindenwood starting an EdS in Administration. School Business Management, Education Research, Curriculum and Design, School Facilities.”
