Puppy, Dragged Behind Truck on I-55, Recovering in Maryland Heights
St. Louis Police responded to the scene this morning after a driver had seen the dog being dragged and called police.
A 5-and-a-half-year-old Pit Bull, who was tethered to a truck and dragged on Interstate 55, is recovering at the Humane Society of Missouri facility in Maryland Heights, KMOX reports.
According to the article, St. Louis Police responded to the scene this morning after a driver had seen the dog being dragged and called police. Officers found the driver of the truck “distraught,” according to the Humane Society. He said he didn’t know the animal and wasn’t aware it had became tied to his truck.
“The puppy is in critical condition and it is too early to determine if he will survive his injuries,” Dr. Mark Wright, Humane Society veterinarian, said in a statement. “We are stabilizing him and consulting with our surgeon to determine the appropriate course of treatment.”
The Humane Society of Missouri is investigating the incident and a $2,500 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible, the report said.
