Slate Set for City Council Race, Ward 3 Candidate Wants Off the Ballot

Ward 3 candidate Jill Schaller will request her name be left off the April ballot. Otherwise, a slate of candidates for the Maryland Heights City Council has been set.

Six Maryland Heights residents filed to run for the Maryland Heights City Council in the April 2 election, according to the city.

The candidates are as followS:

Ward 1

  • Don Hunt
  • John Minton

Ward 2

  • Ed Dirck

Ward 3

  • Michael Hachmeister
  • Jill Schaller

Ward 4

  • Norm Rhea

According to the Maryland Heights officials, Schaller notified City Clerk JoAnn Cova last week that she wanted her name removed from the ballot.

But, according to a city release, because of a Jan. 22 deadline set by the St. Louis County Board of Elections, a court order is required in order for Schaller's name to be removed from the ballot.

More from that release:

Wednesday, March 6 is the last day to register to vote or file a change of address with St. Louis County for the April election. To register to vote in St. Louis County, a person must be a U.S. citizen, a county resident and be 18 years old on election day.
