Spending Christmas Day Out and About in Maryland Heights
Whether you’re a lifelong Grinch or new in town and lonely, we went in search of how you could spend a busy Christmas Day in Maryland Heights.
Christmas is a season when happy families gather around a tree and children can rip into packages Santa left behind. The picture's pretty, but what if you're single with no kids whose parents moved to Florida? You can enjoy a Christmas of Chinese food and rental movies, but we're looking for something more.
Whether you're a lifelong Grinch or new in town and lonely, we went in search of how you could spend a busy Christmas Day in Maryland Heights.
Begin with breakfast at Denny's. They're open 24 hours on both Christmas Day and Christmas Eve. Nothing says holiday spirit like a Grand Slam served by a waitress counting the hours until she can get home to her kids.
Fueled by sugar, carbs and grease, it's time to venture into Harrah's. The casino is also open for 24 hours on both Christmas Eve and Christmas day. Think of it as a little piece of Vegas, but without the pesky obligation to spend half your stay at a business conference.
It's a good plan, but half the restaurants in Harrah's are closed on Christmas. You might as well venture back out into the suburban streets.
Since you're already indulging one vice with gambling, indulge another with a stop at Hooters. They're open from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Christmas Day. Revel in the camaraderie of those who needed some chicken wings and a cold beer after a couple days of family togetherness. If you're feeling extra bold, write your name and phone number on your tip. If she's single and you're charming, maybe Santa will bring you a Hooter's Girl for Christmas.
After driving home past all those houses trussed up in holiday lights, resist the urge to download a trial version of World of Warcraft. Instead, put on some streaming Netflix or a Pay Per View movie and order a pizza from Papa John's. They deliver until 10 p.m. on Christmas day.
You've had a busy day on the town, so put up your heels and relax.
