Cedit for photo number 8 is NOT Mary Nani Lhotak, it is a Demetrius Webb, University City High School Swim Team Photographer 2010. Your credits are showing the name of the person who submitted the photo.

Judging on overall quality as a sports photo, I go for #4 (female swimmers in green suits diving). Color and light are excellent, composition perfect and artistic (slicing quite nicely along "rule of thirds" lines), and subject matter highlights exciting competitive nature of the sport, as all are starting very close--none have a big jump over others coming off the blocks, so winner will have to beast others on swim, turns and/or finish. (If you've watched Olympic swimming last few nights, you've seen how a race can be won at the finish by a harder touch on the wall -- actually an electronic touchpad switch that records the time.

My vote is for number 8.

I know the coach and the swimmer both worked very hard this year. Go University City!

Thanks for the votes and the nice words about the picture, and thanks to all the other participants and their pictures! There were many good ones, it's a real honor to be considered the best.

To be clear, I uploaded the picture on behalf of my brother Bill who is the photographer. The diver closest to the camera is his daughter Eve, who has been swimming competitively since elementary school. She is starting college this year in Arizona.
