So it's January again and most people are looking to make healthy changes in their lives! If you're like me, you do better with some accountability!?!
I challenge you to join Maryland Heights Biggest Loser!

Of course I can only talk about my own personal experience in the Biggest Loser program. But I think it's safe to say that this is a wonderful hidden gem in our town!
I've lost track of how many times I have joined the challenge, but there are several times that I keep coming back. Because I have young children and a husband with Billiken Season tickets, I can't sign up to attend a class every single week. Joining Biggest Loser allows you to try many of the great classes offered. Arrive a little before the class is to begin, check in at the front desk, trade your resident card for a pass for the class and go work up a sweat. Yes, it really is that simple. So if you’ve always wanted to try Zumba or you think you want to try a PiYo or Butts and Guts class in the morning before work, check it out!
But don't worry if you are new to exercising. Most everyone in the classes are welcoming to newbies. I have met some wonderful people along this journey. And it’s nice to be able to talk to people who are facing the same struggles as I am.
New this time around is a contest to see who can attend the most classes. The incentive isn’t in stone yet but I’m sure it’ll be good!
Or maybe you would prefer to exercise by walking on a treadmill, pedaling a stationary bike, using a stair-stepper or elliptical or lifting weights. Through the Biggest Loser Program you get full access to the Fitness Center at the Maryland Heights Center.
Another benefit of the program is sessions with a trainer. Included in your registration, is 4 thirty minute sessions with 1 of 4 trainers. I have worked out with all 4 of them and they are all excellent. Depending on what you would like to focus on, they can work with you through exercises to help you feel stronger and more fit!
The initial weigh in can be a little intimidating especially since you most likely aren’t at a weight that you want to share with other people. But even the weigh in process is simple and private. In order to stay active and remain in the program, you must weigh in one time each week but since the scale is typically located near the front desk, that can take as little as 5 minutes.
After taking the chance on yourself and joining, you will get weekly emails from Eilien Ramirez. She will share recipes, exercise tips, upcoming events related to the program, weekly challenges and the Top 10 list. I’m proud to say that I remained in the top 10 last session for several weeks in a row! Talk about a self-esteem booster!!
And there is a private facebook page where you can ask questions, meet new people, get encouragement, etc.
