Go Cards!

We are all a part of Cardinal Nation!

I grew up walking down to Busch Stadium. When my sister and I asked why we had to walk, mom and dad always insisted that it would be much quicker for us to walk there and back than fight with the traffic to get out of the parking lots and get back home in the car.

So we walked. And as other fans waited in long lines to get out of the garages we walked and walked and walked. But we did get home before a lot of the parking lots emptied.

Those were the days of players like Ozzie Smith and Willie McGee.

Such great family memories from childhood.

Fast forward to present day. Since we live in Maryland Heights, that would make for one heck of a long walk. And my boys are still fairly young so we haven't gone to many games  But last summer, both boys won Cardinal tickets from the summer Library Reading club. We enjoyed the outings as a family. And this past summer when my 3-year-old won a set of tickets we bought two tickets so we could again enjoy the game as a family.

I want the boys to know that we are in fact part of Cardinal Nation, so we dress them in red and root on the Redbirds from the comfort of our home.

But for the most part my husband and I are building a whole different set memories for our kids. But I will forever hold the Cards of the '80s in my heart!
