Ideas for "Going Green" in Your Own Backyard

Examples of everything from raising chickens and bees, to aquaculture, to rain gardens, xeriscaping, growing native plants and much more will be on the free, self-guided tour.

It seems you can't get through 24 hours without hearing the buzzword of the day:  "sustainability."  The concept is applied to everything from the Eurozone to lawn and garden practices.  I can't help you with understanding the former, but I do have an idea if you want to apply sustainable practices in your own backyard.

You can register now for the 2nd Annual Sustainable Backyard Tour on Sunday, June 24, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.  It's a free, self-guided tour of green and organic outdoor spaces throughout St. Louis city and county.

Examples of everything from raising chickens and bees, to aquaculture, to rain gardens, xeriscaping, growing native plants and much more will be on the tour, giving you the opportunity to pick and choose what you want to learn about from people who have been there, done that.  Maybe you can't change the world, but you can change your little piece of it.
