Mugs in the News: The Faces that Made This Week's Crime Headlines

The following mug shots were taken from various Patch crime reports between Sept. 15-21.

Information for Mugs in the News is provided by the St. Charles County and St. Louis County law enforcement agencies. Charges are not evidence of guilt. They are a record of police actions taken on a given day, and persons charged with a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court. If you or a family member are charged or cited and the case is subsequently adjudicated, we encourage you to notify the editor. We will verify and report the outcome.

Gregory Shurtz - loses his conceal carry permit for brandishing it in road rage incident. I thought they were all gun-holding protectors of the common man. What say you gun fetishists?

The gun laws again worked exactly as they were designed to; fella with a ccw broke the law, was arrested and suffered the consequences. Happens everyday, no big deal. Next!
I guess RDBet you'd be happier if they also made me or my neighbor pay for this guys crime as well?
RDBet March 5, 2013 at 04:58 pm
I'm just happy he didn't kill someone. He's a criminal, but up until that point he was just another law-abiding gun owner.
It does give gun folk a bad rap, when the guns belonging to this guy, or to a greater extreme Nancy Lanza, are used in crimes. One would think the NRA and cohorts would want to work towards tighter controls - so the real law-abiding gun owners can pack freely at Cracker Barrel. Hopefully no one cuts them off in traffic on the way.

RDBet you make my hair hurt. You said: "He's a criminal, but up until that point he was just another law-abiding gun owner"
You can't help yourself can you? What if he did kill somone? We live in a nation of laws and he would have been held accountable for the murder too. Please explain how his crimes real or imagined give me, you or anyone else a "bad rap".

James Holmes bought an arsenal legally. Just another law-abiding gun owner. Your right, the law is holding him accountable. That is some justice for the dead. Of course, if only another law-abider were around. You know, like a Citizen Shurtz, or one of the Cracker Barrel Posse, it all could have been prevented.

Keep posting RDBet you're helping me!
No sir, another "law-abider" around would not have changed anything, obviously you know nothing about CCW holders. We're taught from the git-go that we're not on the team, criminals do not answer to us, we're not in charge of anything other than our own safety. We carry because we're taking a small measure of responsibility for our own safety while in public, period. We don't owe you anything nor are we responsible for seeking justice for the dead or anyone else who chooses to leave their personal security to others. If you were to insert both you and I into an active shooting situation in a public setting, you would most probably be killed, I would have a plan-B. I'm fine with that, you deserve the option of not carrying a weapon just as much as I deserve the option to carry one.

In reality, your less safe packing heat. Gun owners are more likely to be shot by a gun than non-gun owners. Think about that when your fiddling with your piece at Cracker Barrel.
You are safe like Nancy Lanza. And of course you feel my posts are helping you. You obsessed gun folks are monomaniacs in that manner. Once Shurtz does his time, do you think he should be allowed his CCW permit back?

IDABet that RDBet' s parents wished that they had used more protection...

RDBet- I have no opinion about Shurtz (your most recent obsession along with bad restaurants) his gun rights, legal problems, miserable life, whatever.
I am concerned about my rights. All of them. I'm also concerned about your safety even though you apparently are happy leaving it to 911. When seconds count RDBet, help is minutes away. Now count, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, ..........
Caffeinated March 6, 2013 at 01:11 am
Stop it, Katie. You, of all people, shouldn't lecture others about the use of protection.
:)

Awww you and your rights and your misperceptions on safety. It's so cute what some people let packing heat do them. Be careful with that fiddlin.

Your blanket statement " Gun owners are more likely to be shot by a gun than non-gun owners" is not a true statement. A "Gun Owner" is someone who LEGALLY owns a gun. Legal Gun owners are NOT more likely to be shot than non-LEGAL gun owners.
Please do not lump in criminals in possession of a gun to skew your statistics as that is like comparing apples to oranges.
