Valerie Butler, 25, has been missing since Feb. 10, according to multiple Facebook postings that have gone viral, which say that her car and belongings were found in the parking lot of Handlebars on N. Lindbergh.
Her family's concern is quickly growing, but police have cautioned them to slow down on their media attention. The postings and virtual fliers can be seen on multiple public Facebook accounts and list three different police departments to contact for information or tips: Maryland Heights, St. Ann and Florissant.
Her cousin, Jessica Francis, told Maryland Heights Patch that Valerie may have been spotted in Maryland Heights since her disappearance. The Maryland Heights Police have confirmed that a report was taken but said that any other information must be obtained through the St. Ann Police.
A detective with St. Ann said he could neither confirm nor deny the missing persons case and directed all phone calls regarding Valerie Butler to the chief's office.
Francis said that, for her cousin's safety, detectives warned against giving out any further information regarding Butler's disappearance until they are ready to release it to the media.
Maryland Heights Patch will have more information as the story unfolds and as details are officially released to the public.
