Mugs in the News: The Faces that Made This Week's Crime Headlines

The following mug shots were taken from various Patch crime reports between April 23 and April 27.

Information for Mugs in the News is provided by the St. Charles County and St. Louis County law enforcement agencies. Charges are not evidence of guilt. They are a record of police actions taken on a given day, and persons charged with a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court. If you or a family member are charged or cited and the case is subsequently adjudicated, we encourage you to notify the editor. We will verify and report the outcome.

Police: Ainsley Freeman Likely Did Not Shoot Herself

Autopsy results show Ainsley Freeman and her mother, Amy Freeman Burton, were shot in the head. Both previously attended the Parkway School District.

Police said former Parkway School District student, 13-year-old Ainsley Freeman most likely did not shoot herself. Initial autopsy results show that Ainsley and her mom, 37-year-old Amy Freeman Burton, each died from one gunshot to the head. Although the official report is not yet available, and results are not yet conclusive, "evidence does suggest that Ainsley did not likely shoot herself," Lt. Jeff Bretzing said in a press release. Both Freeman Burton and her daughter Ainsley were found shot to death in their San Francisco area home Monday. They had reportedly moved there from the St. Louis area in December. Parkway School District spokesperson Cathy Kelly confirms both mother and daughter attended Parkway schools. Kelly stated in an …

Former Parkway Student, Mother Shot to Death

A former Parkway School District student and her mother were shot to death in California, according to published reports.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that Amy Freeman Burton, 37, and her 13-year-old daughter Ainsley Freeman, a former Parkway student, were found shot to death in their San Francisco area home Monday.  According to the Danville, CA Patch, Burton's husband, Christopher Burton, reportedly found the victims and called police. Investigators said Burton is not a suspect, but he is a "person of interest" as they try to determine if this is a double murder or a murder-suicide. According to the Pleasanton, CA Patch, Christopher said he and his wife contacted the police and the FBI in February because Ainsley was communicating with a 16-year-old male from Kentucky, via text messages and photos.  Police do not believe that incident has anything to…

Sobering Sight: Pattonville Kids Witness Mock DWI Drill Ahead of Prom

Students urged to take precaution so weekend event is memorable for the right reasons.

After graduation, Pattonville High School senior Stephanie Vonarx plans on being a lifeguard this summer before heading off to the University of Central Missouri in the fall. She may have gotten a headstart on the lifeguard thing a little early Thursday. Vonarx had a starring role in a tragedy nobody wants repeated in real life, as she played the part of a girl who died in a drunk driving accident on prom night. Pattonville annually stages a mock accident with cooperation from Maryland Heights Police, the Pattonville Fire Protection District and SSM DePaul Health Center as a way to show the very real consequences of what can happen when alcohol impairs your ability to drive. For photos from the Mock Drill, check out the Creve Coeur Patch …
