Woman Lured Man to Hotel Room Where He Was Stabbed and Robbed, Police Say

When the man entered the room at the Northwest Airport Inn May 10, another man stabbed and robbed him, and he attacker and the woman split the money, , Bridgeton Police said.

A woman lured a man to her motel room in Bridgeton May 10 where another man lying in wait stabbed him in the chest and robbed him, police said. Bridgeton Police said Lindsay Dames, 19, arranged for the man to be robbed by David Smith, 47, who waited at the Northwest Airport Inn at 3570 North Lindbergh Blvd. in Bridgton, an extended stay motel. When Dames and the man entered her room, Smith attacked the man, stabbing him in the chest and lacerating his liver, according to a police report. They took cash and a cell phone from the man, according to a court document. Smith, of the 1700 block of Fifth Street in St. Charles, was charged Friday with first-degree assault, first-degree robbery and two counts of armed criminal action. Dames, of the …

County Emergency Management Leans on Social Media During the Tornado

In the aftermath of the April 10 tornado, the St. Louis County Office of Emergency Management triggered a FEMA social media experiment. Did your use of social media increase during the severe weather?

In the aftermath of the April 10 tornado that ripped through parts of Bridgeton and surrounding areas, the St. Louis County Office of Emergency Management (OEM) learned to embrace social media. It posted this message the day the tornado hit: “We have been hit by tornado and/or severe thunderstorm damage in Hazelwood, Missouri and possibly other areas. Need help monitoring social media for any damage reports. Primary location is the intersection of Howdershell and Lynn Haven in Hazelwood, MO. Thanks for your help!” The department said it immediately began searching social media looking for people reporting damage, injuries, outages, or resource needs in the wake of the tornado. Bobcat Set on Fire in Maryland Heights

Maryland Heights police blotter for May 10.

Driving infraction A person was arrested for driving with a revoked license near the intersection of Interstate 270 and Dorsett Road.  Arson A Bobcat backhoe was set on fire on McKelvey Road.  Drugs Police issued a ticket for possession of marijuana on Dorsett Road. Theft A passport was stolen from a car on Oberlin Drive.  Audio equipment was stolen from a rental unit on Page Service Drive.  Animal bite A report of an animal bite was taken on Glenmeade Drive.

Maryland Heights Officer Who Was Shot in 2010 Reflects During Police Week

Detective Sgt. Joe Eagan, who was shot in the line of duty in 2010, talks about police week and the update on his current condition.

National Police Week always holds a special place in the heart of police officers and other law enforcement individuals across the country, but for Maryland Heights Police Officer Joe Eagan, it’s a truly special time. “There is nothing like this week, to see artifacts and notes people left at the [National Law Enforcement Officer Memorial] wall,” Eagan said. “It’s a very moving week.” The memorial sits in Washington D.C. and lists the names of federal, state and local officers who have been killed in the line of duty. Eagan said he visited the memorial 10 years ago. Intoxicated Woman Reports Her Sister and She Abducted, Thrown in River

Police and fire officials spent part of Sunday searching a creek near the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater.

The Maryland Heights Police Department is relieved a call about two women being abducted was a false alarm. Chief of Police Bill Carson said law enforcement responded to the scene where a woman said her sister in she were in grave danger, following Sunday's Pointfest concert at Verizon Wireless Amphitheater. "We had a very, very intoxicated young woman report that she had been abducted along with her sister," Carson said. "(She said) that her sister had been thrown into the creek near the amphitheater and that she had last seen her floating away down the creek." Sax Was The Bomb: Musician Arrested for Accidentally Making Bomb Threat

William L. Schafer told Maryland Heights Police he was referring to his musical ability when he said he had a bomb in his saxophone case, according to a police report.

A musician told police that when he told people in Creve Coeur Park he had a bomb in his saxophone case on May 9, he was talking about the music he was about to unleash, not explosives. But William L. Schafer, 41, of the 13200 block of Windbrooke Lane in unincorporated St. Louis County, was charged Friday with making a false bomb report. Maryland Heights Police said when Schafer arrived at Creve Coeur Park, he announced to several people that his saxophone case contained a bomb. Some park-goers called the police. Officers arrived at the park to find Schafer playing the sax. According to a police report, Schafer admitted mentioning something about a a bomb, but said he was referring to his playing ability. Man Broke Into Lighthouse Church, Stole Cash and Checks, Police Say

Shawn M. Young, 20, was charged with burglary and theft.

A man was charged with stealing cash and several checks from Lighthouse Baptist Church on Lindbergh Boulevard in Maryland Heights. Shawn M. Young, 20, of the 10400 block of Englewood in Overland, was charged Tuesday with second-degree burglary and misdemeanor theft. Maryland Heights Police said Young broke into the church at 3025 North Lindbergh Blvd. May 3 and stole cash and several checks from the church.
