Marla Prather of the Museum of Modern Art in New York chose the art for the Ann Metzger exhibition.
An art world powerhouse picked the nearly 100 works of art on display as part of Clayton's Ann Metzger Memorial National All Media Exhibition. The exhibition—which draws on submissions from across the U.S. and includes paintings, photography and sculpture—kicked off Sunday at the St. Louis Artists' Guild in Oak Knoll Park. It is one of the largest shows the Artists' Guild mounts each year. Marla Prather juried the show. She is curator in the department of modern and contemporary art at New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art (MOMA). Before that, she worked with the Tate Modern in London, the Whitney in New York, and the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. Art curators don't come more pedigreed than that. Many participating artists …

Artwork from Pattonville High School students is featured as part of the United Way 100 Neediest Families campaign.
Since 1922, St. Louisans have banded together to help local families in need during the holidays. For almost 60 years, that tradition continued as the United Way’s 100 Neediest Families campaign, profiling 100 families availible for adoption in the St. Louis area. Each case is profiled in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, which has partnered with the program for more than 5 decades. Students from high schools across the city contributed artwork to the campaign, illustrating the despair and need of profiled families. Artwork from three Pattonville High School students—Kaylyn Williams, Maximilian Schnake and Matt Zehner—was selected from hundreds of entries to be featured alongside the campaign. Last year, contributors donated $1.3 million and …

Sisters open first-in-Missouri version of a studio mixing BYOB and art.
The last time you went out for a night on the town, you might have returned home with a doggy bag of leftovers, but not much else. A pair of Pattonville High School graduates are hoping the next time you go out, you'll come home with a painting. Sisters Patty Donaldson and Mary Schnure are co-owners of Painting With A Twist. It's the first Missouri franchise for the Louisiana based firm, which now has locations in 16 states. The Creve Coeur studio opened Thursday night at 12623 Olive Boulevard. The premise: you bring your own drinks and snacks, spend a few hours with friends and an art instructor and leave with a painting. Franchise owners have 1600 designs to choose from when building their calendar, although private parties can select …
