See which of South County Center mall's stores are open during the wee hours of Black Friday.
More than 40 stores at the South County Center will open at midnight on Black Friday, Nov. 23. The mall's other stores will open between 3 and 8 a.m. Here's a look at South County Center stores that will open at midnight on Black Friday: Dillards opens at 8 a.m., JCPenney opens at 6 am., Macy's opens at midnight and Sears opens at 4 a.m. For more details, find the Black Friday schedule for South County Center online.

More than 50 stores at the West County Center will open at midnight on Black Friday, Nov. 23. The mall's other stores will open at 5 a.m., with times varying slightly for department stores. Area big-box retailers are gearing up to dazzle bargain hunters even earlier this Black Friday—starting even on Thanksgiving Day! Last week, Walmart announced that it would open its doors at 8 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 22 and offer holiday doorbusters while supplies last. These include deals on TVs, iPads, an electric scooter for $79 and a steam mop for $39. Not to be outdone, Target is also planning all-out holiday shopping assaults. Target's deals begin at 9 p.m. According to an ad leaked online, the best deals will be for TVs, a Nook, a Nikon camera and an XBOX 360 Kinect bundle. And at Best Buy, doors open at midnight. Thousands are signing an online petitions against Black Friday store opening hours that have been pushed into Thanksgiving Day.
The trend for stores to open earlier and earlier to take advantage of Black Friday sales—even to the point of opening in the evening on Thanksgiving Day—has prompted an online petition drive to give Thanksgiving back to employees and their families. Walmart, the retail giant superstore, says it will open its doors at 8 p.m. Thanksgiving Day for Black Friday shoppers. What do you think about the move?
For traditionalists, it may be an unwelcome encroachment on a holiday normally focused on family, but for shopping enthusiasts it's all in good fun. Walmart has announced that it will begin running "Black Friday" sales at 8 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day, the earliest time yet as the shopping holiday increasingly becomes "Black Thursday." Although the retail giant did hold sales on Thanksgiving Day last year, they started later in the evening. The 8 p.m. push will be one of three sales "events" for Walmart with others occurring at 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. the next day. Locally, Maryland Heights residents weren't too happy about the decision. Some shoppers had waited in line for days to get the best deals.
Lines snaked around big box retail stores as early as Tuesday afternoon until doors were opened at the stroke of midnight Friday. People ran to scoop up a steal on a $600 TV and the hottest Justin Bieber doll. Some lines were shorter than others proving you don’t have to wait in line 60 hours beforehand, miss your family’s Thanksgiving dinner or risk hypothermia to score some sweet deals. Behold the sights of long and short which will help you begin mapping out next year’s day of dark deals.
Several St. Louis businesses were flooded with early, motivated shoppers today. Some of them had been waiting in line for days.
