New beer set to bring distribution jobs to St. Louis.
American Patriot Beer’s official St. Louis launch brings an end to three years of prep for Maryland Heights resident John Beal. “Our beer is bad to the bone,” Beal told Maryland Heights Patch. While the beer is good, Beal said what most excites him about the beverage’s launch is getting the beer’s message out: that it’s important to buy American products. Everything in American Patriot Beer is from the United States. Wisconsin brewers concoct the liquid from hops and barley from the Pacific Northwest, Beal said. Beal said his goal is to eventually brew American Patriot in St. Louis. But that doesn’t mean the beer’s launch won’t bring new jobs to St. Louis. The ITT Tech career fair is set for July 26 at 2:30 p.m
Looking for a job? ITT Tech will host a job fair at the Maryland Heights Doubletree Hotel on July 26. The event is scheduled from 2:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m., according to jobs.mo.gov. While ITT Tech does not have a Maryland Heights facility, one of the institution's campuses is just outside the city limits—in Earth City. Are you looking for a job? The council voted unanimously a measure that will affect some property near Vago Park.
The Maryland Heights City Council approved an ordinance that repealed a conditional use permit and enacted a new CUP to allow pet grooming. The ordinance affects a one-acre area at 1-9 Midland Avenue. The new ordinance will allow a pet care service provider at 9 Midland Avenue, near Vago Park and the new Dollar General. The city’s Planning Commission recommended to the city that the ordinance be approved. The City Council voted unanimously for the change.

The complex was bought by Lodging Hospitality Management, INC., according to the news organization.
Fox 2 reported via Twitter that Lodging Hospitality Management, Inc. has bought Westport Plaza. The company also owns several properties in Maryland Heights, including the Westport Sheratons and Doubletree St. Louis at Westport. A company representative would not comment on the potential aquisition in a brief phone call late Thursday afternoon. Follow Maryland Heights Patch for continuing coverage of this story.

This week we take a look at one of the empty storefronts in Westport Plaza.
Westport Plaza may not have much retail these days, but its still a destination for coffee, food and entertainment. Trainwreck Saloon, Funny Bone, and Starbucks appear to be going strong. But there are empty storefronts and closed restaurants on the Westport campus. We found this location with a "for lease" sign in the window.
