SLU’s Campus, Downtown Location Puts Pattonville Grad in Midst of Activity

For Eli Phillips, it was easy to choose a college. It’s the city life for him. “I love the urban setting,” said Phillips, a Pattonville High School graduate. “I had to be in the city. I like being able to not own a car, walk, use public transportation.” That’s one reason Phillips, Pattonville’s 2011 valedictorian, chose to attend Saint Louis University. He said urban life intrigues him, with trips to New York fueling that fire. He said living in New York City may be in his future. In the meantime, downtown St. Louis has plenty for him, and he knows the city well. “It’s a beautiful campus, and it’s a university on the rise,” Phillips said. “It’s ranked higher every year on the U.S. News and World Report rankings.” SLU is ranked No. 86 in …
