St. Louis County Police said Ingram illegally towed cars broken down along Interstate 70 and Interstate 270.
A tow truck driver based in Webster Groves faces a second car theft charge. The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney's Office on Wednesday charged Leonard T. Ingram, 55, of the 800 block of Holland Avenue in Webster Groves with stealing a motor vehicle. Ingram is a driver for Ingram Towing based in Webster Groves. St. Louis County Police said Ingram used a tow truck to steal a vehicle that had broken down along Interstate 70 near Earth City on Feb. 7. Ingram also stole a second vehicle that broke down on the side of I-270 near I-367, police said. Ingram also was caught stealing a motor vehicle with a tow truck back in October 2012, police said. Five people were indicted by a St. Louis County grand jury Thursday for 11 car thefts at Lou Fusz Buick GMC Oct. 11. Indicted on 11 counts of car theft, second-degree burglary and felony theft were: Waller, Hunter and Howell also are charged with stealing cars from Johnny Londoff Chevrolet in Florissant on the same evening. St. Louis County Police spokesman Officer Randy Vaughn said the five defendants, acting with others, stole the vehicles and parked them in various locations in the city and county. One car stolen from the Lou Fusz dealership was recovered at Johnny Londoff Chevrolet. The cars have all been recovered. The car was stolen just east of Maryland Heights in unincorporated St. Louis County. The defendant was arrested driving the car in Cool Valley, according to a police report.

A man faces criminal charges after police said he was caught driving a car reported stolen by his sister’s boyfriend. Mathew Mantro, 25, of the 100 block of Sunglow Drive in Lake Saint Louis, was charged Oct. 5 with stealing a vehicle. St. Louis County Police said the victim was leaving his girlfriend’s house Aug. 11 when he discovered his Honda Accord was missing from the driveway in the 1200 block of Magdalena Court. The area is in unincorporated St. Louis County east of Maryland Heights. The car owner had been at his girlfriend’s home Aug. 10 until the early morning hours of Aug. 11. All of the thefts occured near the intersections of Bennington and Basston, and Basston and Western Cape.
Nearly ten cars were targeted for theft late last month. Maryland Heights police say nine cars were the victim of a car clotting scheme between Sept. 24 and Sept. 25. All of the thefts occured near the intersections of Bennington and Basston, and Basston and Western Cape. Police say entry was made by punching a hole under the door lock. One car had a shattered rear passenger window. Two cars had Tvs stolen out of the dash while iPods, computers, wallets and cash were taken. In one car, the column was torn off in an apparent attempt to take it.
