Man Broke Into Lighthouse Church, Stole Cash and Checks, Police Say

Shawn M. Young, 20, was charged with burglary and theft.

A man was charged with stealing cash and several checks from Lighthouse Baptist Church on Lindbergh Boulevard in Maryland Heights. Shawn M. Young, 20, of the 10400 block of Englewood in Overland, was charged Tuesday with second-degree burglary and misdemeanor theft. Maryland Heights Police said Young broke into the church at 3025 North Lindbergh Blvd. May 3 and stole cash and several checks from the church. Woman Forged Checks at Nearby Bank, Maryland Heights Police Say

Maryland Heights Police say Crystal Callahan, a St. Charles-area woman, forged and cashed at least five checks at a Creve Coeur bank.

A St. Charles-area woman faces criminal charges after forging another person’s names to checks. Crystal Callahan, 33, of the 2000 block of St. Andrews Drive in St. Charles County, was charged Jan. 31 with forgery. Maryland Heights Police said Callahan signed the name of a Maryland Heights resident to five or six checks and cashed them at the U.S. Bank branch at 11655 Olive Blvd., in Creve Coeur between May 6 and May 11 in 2011. Callahan was being held in St. Louis County jail Thursday after a warrant was served Wednesday. Bail was set at $25,000. Man Forged Checks to Buy Heroin and Oxycontin, Police Say

The man cashed one legal check, followed by three forged checks, police said.

A Wildwood man was charged Aug. 16 with writing fake checks and cashing them last April. Michael Larocca, 32, of the 2500 block of Elm Forest Court in Wildwood, was charged with three counts of forgery. They are felony charges. Maryland Heights Police said Larocca cashed one check from a man legally. He then forged three more checks from the same man and cashed them at Commerce Bank at 12633 Dorsett Road in Maryland Heights, police said. Larocca said he cashed the checks to buy heroin and Oxycontin, according to the probable cause statement filed by Maryland Heights Police. Bond was set at $10,000.
