A Florissant man faces assault charges after police said he ran a red light, crashing into another car and injuring the driver. Bridgeton Police said Thomas Gasperoni, 31, of the 600 block of Meadowgrass in Florissant, was driving while intoxicated. Gasperoni was charged March 5 by the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office with second-degree assault. Bridgeton Police said witnesses saw Gasperoni driving at a high rate of speed Nov. 27 when he ran a red light at Lindbergh Boulevard and Missouri Bottom Road, crashing into another car. An overturned tractor trailer on northbound Lindbergh Boulevard, near Interstate 70, may impact the evening rush hour commute in North County, Fox 2 News reports. The accident is locateda few miles from Maryland Heights. According to Fox 2, the truck is blocking one left lane on northbound Lindbergh. The ramp from westbound I-70 to northbound Lindbergh is also closed and emergency crews on the scene are estimating that the ramp will remain closed up to five hours. The truck was reportedly carrying books that spilled all over the highway. KMOX reports that Bridgeton Police Captain Mark Mossotti said the books need to be unloaded from the semi before they can move the truck. A man faces a criminal charge after police said he caused a collision on New Ballas Road Friday while driving drunk. Kenneth S. Klein, of the 1700 block of Schulte Hill Drive in Maryland Heights, was charged Saturday with second-degree assault, driving while intoxicated. Klein caused an accident at 828 New Ballas Road in Creve Coeur by colliding with a woman’s car, police said. The woman bruised her arm and hit her head in the crash. Creve Coeur Police said Klein appeared to be drunk and had watery eyes, slurred speech and smelled like alcohol. A St. Charles man was charged Wednesday with involuntary manslaughter for an April 17 crash in Maryland Heights that killed two passengers in his car. John Recklein, 22, of the first block of Robert Drive in St. Charles, was charged with first-degree involuntary manslaughter—driving while intoxicated. The crash killed Natasha Galenski, a 17-year-old St. Peters girl, and 23-year-old Jared T. Nevenner, of Caseyville. Galenski died four days after the accident. Recklein’s blood-alcohol content was 0.179 percent, more than double the legal limit, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report. A man was indicted by a grand jury Wednesday on second-degree assault, armed criminal action and first-degree property damage. Maryland Heights Police said in a report that Sean Stapley, 26, rammed his vehicle into another man’s car near the driver’s side door Jan. 24 on Dorsett Road near Interstate 270. When Stapley regained control of his car, he hit the victim’s car two more times, according to the report. The victim was treated at a hospital and released. The victim’s car, a 1996 Buick Regal, had $3,273 in damage.

Michael Vaughn of Maryland Heights was killed after being hit by a car.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol confirmed on their website that Michael Vaughn, a 49-year-old from Maryland Heights, was killed after he was struck by a 2009 Pontiac Vibe early March 19. According to the crash report, Vaughn stood in the road's center lane when the car hit him. Mollie Greider, a 24-year-old woman from Creve Coeur, was behind the wheel, according to the report. Lonnings Mortuary Services transported Vaughn's remains to its facilities.

2:37 p.m. update: The Missouri State Highway Patrol says there were no injuries in the accident. ******* One car was flipped on its side following a late morning accident which partially blocked some traffic on Interstate 270 Saturday southbound near Dorsett Rd. Traffc was back flowing by noon, according to the Missouri Department of Transportation and the Missouri Highway Patrol. Details about exactly what happened and the extent of any injuries are not yet available, although it appears two vehicles were involved. Authorities are still on scene investigating. We'll have more information as it becomes available.

Maryland Heights Police helping with a crash northbound on I-270.
A tractor trailer crash has held up northbound traffic on I-270. The Missouri Highway State Patrol's Sgt. Al Nothum told Maryland Heights Patch that the Maryland Heights Police Department was handling the accident. Sgt. Dan Fleig of the Maryland Heights Police Department said he didn't have specific information on the accident, but said some involved had minor injuries.

Sure this drunk is out and about the same day. The other driver will probably be in the hospital for days and in pain for a long time. We all know the drunk will not go to jail, or be out in a few days. What a crock! The drunk will also be drinking and driving again.   more ›
