Monday morning, Schnucks released its list of St. Louis area stores that were impacted by the recent security breach. As a result of that breach, Schnucks customers across the St. Louis area have found fraudulent charges on their debit and cards. The Schnucks stores on the list (which can be found in the PDF portion of this article along with a timeline issued by Schnucks) are located in a number of Patches throughout St. Louis, St. Charles and surrounding counties. The grocer said the issue with card purchases has been "found and contained." The company said it is working with law enforcement agencies and the Missouri Attorney General's office moving forward.
Schnucks announced early Saturday morning that a "very intense" investigation has revealed that the grocery store chain was the victim of a cyberattack and the problem was "found and contained," according to a company statement. "We have identified the issue and taken comprehensive measures to contain the incident. We are cooperating with law enforcement, the Missouri Attorney General’s Office, and the credit card companies to determine the scope and magnitude of this crime and apprehend those individuals making fraudulent purchases, Schnucks CEO Scott Schnuck said in the statement. A man stole his sister’s SUV and credit card, which he used to buy a carton of cigarettes, according to a St. Louis County Police report. Zlatko Tadic, 25, of the 1600 block of Green Hill Drive in unincorporated St. Louis County was charged Tuesday with stealing a vehicle, stealing a credit device and fraudulent use of a credit card. St. Louis County Police said that while his sister was in the shower, Tadic took her car keys and a credit card from her purse. He then drove the 2000 Chevrolet Blazer to the 7-Eleven on Dorsett Road, about a half-mile from his sister’s residence in the 1600 block of Green Hill between Maryland Heights and Creve Coeur. A 21-year-old woman was charged with stealing her aunt’s identity to get $2,400 in cash advances, Maryland Heights Police said. Alexis A. Conley, of the 2900 block of Delmar Boulevard, was charged Oct. 25 with identity theft. Maryland Heights Police said Conley was staying with her aunt and had access to her credit card and social security number. Police said that, in a transaction caught on surveillance video, Conley used her aunt’s social security number to set up a PIN and took cash advances on the credit card. Conley then took out $2,400 in cash advances between June 25 and July 30 at 2107 Schuetz Road in Maryland Heights. Conley told police she used the money to buy heroin, according to the police report. Bail was set at $5,000.
