Opposed Treetop Course Moves from Wildwood to Creve Coeur Park

Go Ape!, an out-of-state treetop adventure course company, now wants to build an area course in Creve Coeur Park instead of the original targeted locale, Greensfelder Park in Wildwood. A request was on the St. Louis County Council agenda Tuesday night.

A new treetop adventure course may be built in Maryland Heights' Creve Coeur Park instead of Greensfelder Park in Wildwood. The change in county venue follows a torrid storm of opposition to the treetop course in Wildwood, many of whom as equestrians frequently use and board horses at Greensfelder. Other residents opposed allowing county-owned lands to be used by private enterprises for profit. Yet another group pointed out safety concerns regarding increased traffic to and from the proposed remote location on already busy, curvy roadways. In fact, some Wildwood residents spearheaded an online petition to indicate their concerns and opposition to the zipline/treetop course project. Rams Team Up To Clean Up Creve Coeur Park

The NFL team's staff worked with The Mission Continues to beautify the St. Louis County park in Maryland Heights park last week.

While the players were busy game-planning for their Sunday matchup against the Miami Dolphins, employees of the St. Louis Rams were at work in Maryland Heights, making a difference at Creve Coeur Park. Team employees worked with "The Mission Continues" and the Audobon Society to plant trees and shrubbery at the park October 12. The Mission Continues is a non-profit organization founded by former Navy SEAL Eric Greitens, a Parkway North High School graduate. The organization is devoted to putting a returning veteran's skills to use by serve their communities at home.

Clave Sol Set to Close Out Maryland Heights' Summer Concert Series

The free concert series is an annual event hosted by the Cultural Arts Commission. The band will begin at 7 p.m. at the Tremayne Shelter.

Clave Sol, a band that provides a “spicy fusion of jazz improvisation with Latin, funk, island and world rhythms,” will perform the last of Maryland Heights' Summer Concert Series Friday at Creve Coeur Park.  The free concert series is an annual event hosted by the Cultural Arts Commission. The band will begin at 7 p.m. at the Tremayne Shelter. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own seating and refreshments. The City of Maryland Heights' Summer Concert Series Continues Aug. 10 with a performance from Lenny Frisch and Friends.

Looking for something to do on Friday? The City of Maryland Heights' summer concert series continues in Creve Coeur Park at 7 p.m with a performance from Lenny Frisch and Friends. The city's website indicates the group plays "Calypso, Reggae, Bossa, Soca and Caribbean music." The event is free, but those attending will need to bring their own seating and refreshments—according to the city's website. Organizers will hold the performance at the Tremayne Shelter.

Update: Creve Coeur Park Singles Beach Party Canceled

Are you single? Do you love the beach? Do you love parties? If so, Creve Coeur Park is hosting an event up your alley!

Update: The Creve Coeur Park Singles Beach Party has been canceled, according to the County Parks and Recreation department. If you're single and looking to meet new people, Creve Coeur Park is hosting a Singles Beach Party on July 14. A sign for the event indicates it's set for July 14 from 7-11 p.m. Registration is required, so call 314-615-8482 or 314-615-8841 if you're interested. The event costs $30 per person. Planning to go?
