Two people escaped a house fire near Maryland Heights Sunday morning by crawling through their bedroom window.

Two people escaped a house fire near Maryland Heights Sunday morning by crawling through their bedroom window, KSDK reports.  According to the news channel, the one-alarm fire started just before 1 a.m. on the 1500 block of Shoemaker Court, which is located in unincorporated St. Louis County.  For more on this story, read KSDK's report.

Local Family Devastated By Fire Needs Your Help

Holy Spirit Parish is organizing a donation drive for items the family needs.

A local family is in need of help from the community after a fire at their home left them devastated. The family of six has lost nearly everything, according to Mary Welsh, parish secretary for Holy Spirit Parish in Maryland Heights. “The Alicia Family experienced a fire that destroyed most of their personal belongings,” Welsh wrote in an email to Maryland Heights Patch. Mr. and Mrs. Alicia have four boys. Welsh said the children especially need certain items, including clothing and shoes. “The boys’ sizes are 14-16, 10-12, and 7-8,” Welsh said. “Also, the little one has NO shoes, but needs size 2-1/2 or 3.” Welsh said donations can be brought to 11934 Hollybrook. “Thank you for helping the family struggle through this unfortunate incident…
