Belleville Man Jason Monroe Charged With Statutory Rape of Teen in St. Louis County

Police said the two exchanged text messages over a three-month period.

A Belleville man faces several criminal charges after St. Louis County Police said he arranged meetings via text message and had sex with a 13-year-old in St. Louis County. Jason M. Monroe, 32 of Belleville, IL, was charged Tuesday with three counts of first-degree statutory rape, attempted enticement of a child, and misrepresenting his age to solicit a minor for sexual misconduct. St. Louis County Police said Monroe met with the 13-year-old three times in July and had sex with the 13-year-old. According to the report, Monroe texted the child on Aug. 6, stating they would “do the same stuff we did last time.” Police said the two exchanged text messages over a three-month period, and Monroe told the victim he was 23 years old when he …

12.5% Annual Crime Reduction Reported by St. Louis County Police

Serious crime in areas protected by St. Louis County Police Department personnel has decreased since last year in all categories but one. Police officers cover 400,000-plus residents of unincorporated areas and contract municipalities in St. Louis County.

Index crime statistics comparing the first six months of 2012 to 2011 in municipalities served by St. Louis County officers as well as unincorporated St. Louis County, show an overall reduction of 12.5 percent, according to a Wednesday news release from St. Louis County police officer Rick Eckhard. Eckhard stated violent crimes also dropped by 7.2 percent, in comparison to last year's figures. He said 12 homicides were reported in 2011 compared to two homicides this year, resulting in a decrease in murder of 83.3 percent. The release revealed reductions in many other public safety categories, such as: Motor vehicle theft increased by 3.7 percent, however, Eckhard said. Pure Evil Takes a Ride In Fenton, But it Was a Short One A woman reported to the sheriff's department that her 2009 custom motorcycle, called Pure Evil, was taken July 3-4 from her driveway on Frontier Trail, Fenton. She told a deputy from the Jfeferson Couny heriff's department that she later saw the motorcycle at the corner of Frontier Trail and Old Gravois Road and that the gas tank, right brake handle, seat and wiring had been damaged. She estimated the damage at $1,200. Deputies canvassed the area to locate possible witnesses, but none were found. Counter Attack at Police Station An intoxicated woman was arrested on suspicion of disorderly conduct May 30 after police said she became combative and climbed onto the front lobby counter at the Richmond Heights Police Department. It began earlier in the day when police responded to a report that someone was blowing a car horn repeatedly in the 1600 block of Bellevue Avenue, according to police. Upon investigation, they found the 25-year-old woman sitting in her car and talking to her boyfriend by phone. The car was turned off. Police brought her to the station to await her boyfriend.
