What Have You Learned Today?

As adults, many of us think we have mastered everything there is when it comes to life's lessons. But there is true value in understanding that life is about learning, growing, and evolving.

Recently, I was at a networking event here in Maryland Heights where there were many people I had never met before. The purpose of the event was to exchange business cards and contact information for possible business dealings in the future. I made my way throughout the conference room, shaking hands and becoming acquainted with new faces when I came across a gentleman standing by himself. I thought it would be a good idea to introduce myself and I made my way over to him. He shook my hand and told me his name. He told me he was working in the human services industry, and I told him that I had a degree in that field. We began to discuss subjects in that area and the conversation quickly became stagnated. I have learned that many tenants will do anything to get out of paying rent. They have no problem writing bad checks. It is amazing how tenants get away with this. No problem screwing landlords out of their rent. Right Danyelle!?   more ›

Parkway School Board to Consider Full-Day Kindergarten

School district that Maryland Heights feeds into will consider lengthening the kindergarten.

The Parkway School Board is scheduled to vote Wednesday night on increasing kindergarten from a half day to a full day. Currently, Parkway offers half-day kindergarten at no charge and full-day kindergarten for $3,520. The change would offer a full day of school to all kindergartners at no charge. The lengthened kindergarten day would affect McKelvey Elementary, a Parkway school based in Maryland Heights that offers Kindergarten. The changes are part of the "Project Parkway," a plan put in place from 2011 to 2016 to help set goals for the district. The Parkway School Board is also considering longer elementary school days and later start and end times for middle school. Those issues are not set to be voted on until a later date. If the …
