Influential Missouri Republicans Say Mitt Romney Should Pick Marco Rubio As Running Mate
Patch's 'Red Arch' survey shows 'Other' ties or outpolls prime contenders like Ohio Senator Rob Portman or former Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty.
If Missouri Republican activists had their way, Mitt Romney would select Florida U.S. Senator Marco Rubio or former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice as his running mate. That's according to findings in the latest Patch "Red Arch" survey. More than 60 influential Republicans, primarily from the St. Louis area, were asked using an automated survey tool what they thought about the GOP vice presidential options. When asked who they would like to see as Mitt Romney's running mate, 31 percent answered Rubio, the first term United States Senator from Florida who has been a Tea Party favorite.
