St. Louis Enjoys Creve Coeur Park on Memorial Day

Creve Coeur Park was full of St. Louis' holiday celebrators on Memorial Day. Check out a few shots from around the park and stay in a relaxing frame of mind.

More Than 150 Take Part in Memorial Day Freedom Run

A caravan of military trucks, motorcycles and cars circled St. Louis to honor veterans and those currently serving in the military.

If you happened to be out and about Memorial Day and saw a parade of military trucks, motorcycles and cars, it was a Freedom Run held to pay tribute to veterans, current military and their families. The parade-like run began in Fenton and circled St. Louis on area highways until it returned to High Ridge. It went through Maryland Heights on Interstate 270. The event was sponsored by Faces of Freedom Fighters, a charitable foundation dedicated to building the state's first national monument to honor Missouri's fallen heroes. The group plans on making the run an annual event.

City offices, as well as the local post office, will be closed Memorial Day.

Maryland Heights Parks Department Prepares Aquaport for Summer

Aquaport is undergoing a little spring cleaning before the water park opens on Memorial Day weekend.

Gearing up a public water park for visitors requires a lot more than just starting the hoses and turning on the lights. For Eilien Ramirez, pool season begins well before Memorial Day and well after Labor Day. The Parks and Recreation Department's recreation facility manager has begun the renovation and hiring process in anticipation of Aquaport's opening on May 28. "People think, 'What do you do in the off-season?'" Ramirez said. "But it never really stops." Located at 2344 McKelvey Rd., the facility includes a variety of water slides, a lazy river, a kids' area and, of course, the massive, 8,000-square-foot pool. Each year, Ramirez and other staff members conduct a fall walk-through once the season ends to determine what areas could use …
