Housing and Businesses at the Top of Incumbent City Council Candidate's Goals

City council member Jim Carver hopes to continue representing Ward 4 in the 2012-13 term.

Ward 4 is unlike any other ward in Maryland Heights, said the incumbent city council candidate who’s running to retain his spot on the council. Councilman Jim Carver was the only person who filed to run for the Ward 4 spot on city council on Dec. 13. The ward is filled with residents who care about their city, Carver said. It stretches from the river to east of McKelvey Road. The residents are some of the most vocal in local government and like to stay on top of things. Carver said he fields between 15 and 20 calls each week from concerned citizens. Caverly Hopes for a Second Term on Maryland Heights City Council

Incumbent city council member sees maintaining quality of homes and businesses an important issue for the city.

Empty storefronts and buildings in Maryland Heights are a significant issue for the city, said one incumbent city council member hoping for a second term. Chuck Caverly told Maryland Heights Patch that he is ready to run for office a second time. Caverly has spent the last two years representing Ward 3 on the Maryland Heights City Council. Caverly said the city has a lot of space that’s available for rent or lease for both businesses and people looking for homes. The biggest issue the city faces, he said, is how it maintains the quality of homes, businesses and everything that goes along with that. Caverly isn’t a stranger to home and business quality consideration. Before being elected to the Ward 3 city council spot, he served on the …

Ken Gold has to go. People are getting really tired of his abusive tactics. Hard to believe how stupid people are to keep him in office this long. He's truly a mental midget.   more ›

I would like to know what Mr. Taschner thinks about the idea of putting a big regional retail shopping complex just west of Creve Coeur Park. A proposal to do just that will be heard at the government center on Aril 26, 7 p.m. Anyone who has an opinion should be at that meeting to hear the details.   more ›
