The Missouri Dance Team Association's championships were held over the weekend at the St. Charles Family Arena in St. Charles.
The official list of winners has not yet been certified and released, but students and schools were tweeting out results from this weekend's Missouri Dance Team Association's championship. The varsity drill team from Pattonville High School won first in pom and first in hip hop. The dual first-place trophies earned the team the overall Class 5A state championship. The Pattonville High School squad, fresh off a fifth place finish in the UDA Championship earlier this month, took Hip Hop, Pom and Class 5A titles in Missouri. Coming to the Pattonville Community Auditorium stage in February is the Tony Award-winning musical “Guys and Dolls.” Performances will take place at 7 p.m. Feb. 14 through Feb. 16 and at 2 p.m. on Feb. 17 in the Pattonville High School Community Auditorium at 2497 Creve Coeur Mill Road. Seats for the musical are reserved. Tickets are $3 for children and students and $5 for adults and can be purchased at the box office at the auditorium starting an hour before the show. "Guys and Dolls" is a 1950s musical that explores the lives of a motley crew of men and a Salvation Army do-gooder in New York City. The varsity drill team from Pattonville High School won fifth place in large varsity hip hop division of the 2013 National Dance Team Championship, held Feb. 2 and 3 in Orlando, FL. They earned the trophy after competing in the category against 44 different teams from 19 states. Jack Koester, Jr. is an assistant prosecutor with Cape Girardeau County
The U.S. Supreme Court only hears a select number of cases each year, but this week, a Pattonville High School alum had the chance to make an argument in one. Jack Koester, who graduated from Pattonville in 1995, is now Assistant Cape Girardeau County Prosecutor. He was there Wednesday because of a 2010 case that calls into question the ability of authorities to call for blood tests of suspected drunk drivers without a court order when suspects refuse to allow the test. As The Huffington Post reported, "The Missouri Supreme Court upheld a lower court order that threw out the results of the blood test. Pattonville High School's girls soccer, track, baseball and boys golf teams will all hold meetings or training sessions this week in regards to the upcoming season.
According to the Pattonville High School officials, several spring sports teams are holding informational meetings in regards to how students can tryout for the team. Tips and information on how to fill out your student's FAFSA form.
College bound seniors, or parents of college bound seniors, will have an opportunity to receive help filling out their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) forms from Pattonville officials. Pattonville High School is hosting a session on Jan. 9 from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the high school's auditorium. Those attending are asked to bring a pen and paper to take notes. The event is free to attend. The school district christened the new facility with weekend events.
Area swimmers interested in some blue water may be green with envy now that the newest pool in the state of Missouri is open for business. The Pattonville School district christened the high school's Aquatic Center Friday during a ribbon cutting and open house, along followed by an alumni swimming and diving meet Saturday. Friday night, with community dignitaries outside the pool and members of the boys and girls swimming and diving teams inside to cut the ribbon. The project was approved by voters as part of a no-tax increase bond issue in November 2010.
