Two In So Far For Pattonville School Board Race

The filing period for Apri's elections began Tuesday and ends January 15.

Two candidates have come forward in bids for two of the seats up for election in April on the Pattonville School Board. Filing for the April election began Tuesday and continues until January 15. Bob Dillon, who has served a total of 12 years on the panel and who's term expires in April, filed for re-election. Andrew Ostrowski was first to file for a seat.  Filing will not take place on December 24, 25 or January 1.

Pattonville School Board Approves Tax Rate Increase

One-time increase is happening because of successful tax appeals from large commercial property owners in the district.

Homeowners who live in the Pattonville School District may see a small increase in their tax bills next year. The Pattonville School Board approved a residential tax rate of $4.52 for every $100 of assessed valuation, a 9.7-cent increase over last year's rate. The board also lowered the property tax rate (which people pay on vehicles) by 16 cents to $3.77 per $100 of assessed valuation from $4.26 per $100.  Board Members Robert Dillon, Jeanne Schottmueller, Ronald Kuschel, Ralph Stahlhut, Tamara Hohenstein and Ruth Petrov unanimously approved the rate increase during the Sept. 25 board meeting. The new residential tax rate comprises the operating levy of $4.03 and a debt service levy of $0.49. The debt service levy has remained unchanged …

Pattonville Faces $2.4 Million Deficit In 2012-2013 School Year

The Pattonville School Board will meet for a budget workshop on June 12.

The Pattonville School Board will hold a budget workshopt Tuesday night. The district’s website indicates board members will hear from Chief Financial Officer Ron Orr about the proposed 2012-2013 budget. Pattonville’s proposed budget indicates the district will be working with a $2.4 million operating deficit, according to the presentation Orr will make to the board. The largest expenses Pattonville faces in the upcoming school year are salaries and benefits—which account for 84.4 percent of the budget. The presentation also indicates Pattonville School District ended the 2011-2012 school year with more than $27 million in its operating fund. The budget workshop is scheduled for June 12 at 6 p.m.

Seriously? Did they really need to build a new stadium and massive sports complex? It is ridiculous for high schools to have such expensive facilities and then the district complain about teacher salaries. Your priorities are not in order. This school board needs to go.   more ›

Pattonville Board to Hear Special Education Program Evaluation

One local school board will hear the results of an evaluation focusing on its special education services.

The Pattonville Board of Education will hear the evaluation results of the district’s special education program. Donette Green, Assistant Superintendent for Special Services, is set to present the evaluation’s findings to the board on June 12. Special School District of St. Louis County and Pattonville School District both provide educational services to students with disabilities, according to Green’s presentation—available on the district’s website. In December 2011, Pattonville had 889 students with disabilities out of the 5,724 students enrolled. The board is set to hear Green’s presentation at its regular meeting on June 12.

Pattonville Board Certifies Election Results

The local school board certified the April 3 election results that seated two incumbent candidates for a few more years.

The Pattonville School Board certified the results from its April 3 election on Tuesday night. Incumbent board members Jeanne Schottmueller (1,653 votes) and Ralph Stalhlhut (1,492) garnered the most votes; newcomer Michael Bailey received 1,231 votes. Schottmueller and Stahlhut were sworn into office on April 10.

Changing of the Guard: Pattonville School Board Reorganizes

Pattonville's school board swore in incumbent candidates and rearranged offices Tuesday night.

Incumbent Pattonville School Board candidates Jeanne Schottmueller and Ralph Stahlhut were sworn into office Tuesday evening at the board’s reorganization meeting. The pair retained their board seats on April 3 after winning the election. After she was sworn-in, the board appointed Schottmueller as president and an alternate delagate to the Missouri School Board Association. Other board members were appointed to other positions. Former school board president Robert Dillon was absent from the meeting.

Pattonville Incumbents Retain School Board Seats

Jean Schottmueller and Ralph Stahlhut have been re-elected to the Pattonville School Board.

Jean Schottmueller and Ralph Stahlhut have retained their seats on the Pattonville School Board. The St. Louis County election board indicates 100 percent of polling places have reported their results. The school board had two seats up for election in 2012. All results are unofficial until certified.

Pattonville Board Elections Heat Up with Three Candidates

Voters will select two of three candidates to represent them on the Pattonville School Board this Tuesday.

Voters in the Pattonville School Distirct will decide who will represent them on the local school board, and this year they’ll have more choice. Three candidates have filed to run for two spots on the board. Incumbents Jeanne Schottmueller and Ralph Stahlhut will try to retain their seats on the board, while newcomer Michael Bailey will try to infuse Pattonville with new blood. Incumbents vie for another term Incumbent candidate Ralph Stahlhut has spent the last 22 years on Pattonville School Board, and wants to bring that experience back to the district for another term. “I feel like there are still things that need to be accomplished,” he said.
