Fatal Plane Crash Claims Another Life; Critically Injured Wife Dies

The second victim of a plane crash in Maryland Heights on Oct. 24 died Monday evening.

Suzanne Hazelton, a passenger in the small-engine plane that crashed into Creve Coeur Lake Oct. 24, died at SSM DePaul hospital, according to hospital spokesperson Rachel Piney.  Piney tells Patch, Suzanne passed away around 5:30 p.m. Monday. (Related Story: Second Creve Coeur Lake Plane Crash Victim Dies) Hazelton had been in critical condition since the accident, reportedly on life support.  Hazelton's husband and pilot of the plane when it crashed, Russell Hazelton, died Oct. 25 from injuries suffered in the plane crash. The Hazeltons were the only two involved in the crash. Dead Pilot Worked at TWA, Neighbors Recall Him as a Great Man

Russell Hazelton, who crashed his plane into Creve Coeur Lake Wednesday evening, was a retired TWA pilot. He and his wife usually spent four months each year at each of their homes in St. Louis, Vermont and Pennsylvania.

Neighbors Mourn The Death of Town and Country Pilot Killed in Creve Coeur Lake Plane Crash

Russell Hazelton, the pilot of the plane that crashed into Creve Coeur Lake this week, died overnight. Hazelton's wife, Suzanne, remains in critical condition. Friends say the loss will have an enormous impact on their neighborhood.

UPDATED: 3:10 p.m., Thursday "Very tough. We're going miss him as a neighbor and as friends," said Fairfield condominium resident Sam Hopmeier in response to the news that Russell Hazelton, the pilot of the plane that crashed into Creve Coeur Lake Wednesday evening, died overnight after the crash. Authorities made the announcement Thursday morning. They said Hazelton's wife, Suzanne, remains in critical condition Thursday afternoon.
