The Humane Society's Maryland Heights shelter helps rescue animals from puppy mills, which Missouri citizens voted to regulate more strictly on Nov. 2. Voters approved Proposition B, a new law that requires large-scale commercial breeders to give their animals adequate food, water and shelter.
