Man Threatens Mother, Daughter in Child Endangerment Case, Police Say
Police say Michael J. Wright, 29, of Wood River, IL, told the mother the only way he wouldn't "get to her is if she's in a coffin." Wright is accused of having sexual contact with the mother's daughter.
A man faces tampering charges after police said he threatened a mother and her daughter in Maryland Heights, attempting to get them to recant their testimony against him. According to a Maryland Heights Police report, he told the mother “the only way he won’t get to her is if she’s in a coffin.” Michael J. Wright, 29, of the 300 block of Van Preter Avenue in Wood River, IL, was charged Monday with two counts of tampering with a witness. Wright was charged last year with first-degree endangering the welfare of a child – sexual conduct, a class B felony. He is accused of sexual contact with the girl. Maryland Heights Police said Wright violated his bond conditions Sept. 2 or Sept. 3 and electronic home detention by going to the Maryland …
