A South County man faces his third impaired driving charge since 2003 following a traffic stop near the Interstate 270 and Dorsett Road intersection in Maryland Heights. Josiah W. Williams, 32, of the 9500 block of Fredricksburg Court in South County just south of Crestwood, was charged March 21 with driving while intoxicated as a persistent offender. A Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper pulled Williams over at 11:04 p.m. on June 21 on Interstate 270 after he changed lanes back and forth abruptly without signaling, according to a court document. Patch reported earlier that a man led several led several police agencies on a chase from Maryland Heights into University City late Monday night and early Tuesday morning. Maryland Heights Police reported an officer had pulled over Jorge Wallace, 25, on a traffic stop at Barrington and Summer House Drive at 11:48 p.m. Monday for straddling the dividing lines. A Maryland Heights man was indicted Friday by St. Charles County grand jury for attempting to make methampetamine. Matthew R. Smith, 30, of the 11800 block of Gay Glen in Maryland Heights, is charged with attempting to make methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance and use of drug paraphernalia. During a Jan. 3 traffic stop, a St. Charles Police patrolman saw that Smith had some items used to make meth. A search found deconstructed cold packs, muriatic acid, sodium hydrochloride and an improvised smoking pipe, according to a St. Charles County Drug Task Force report.
