Bank Bandits Charged With Robbing Maryland Heights Bank, 14 Others in St. Louis-Area
Three bank robbers from North St. Louis County were caught thanks to a man and his camera phone. The bandits are being charged with 14-area robberies, including one from Maryland Heights.
A man with a camera phone, in the right place at the wrong time, helped Maryland Heights Police catch three people wanted in connection to 14 St. Louis-area bank robberies. All three were from the North St. Louis County-area, including Michael Abbott, of Florissant; Latonya Jones, of Berkeley; and Damon Marlon Gibbs, of Ferguson. Abbott, 28, of the 1000 block of St. Brendan Lane in Florissant, was charged by St. Louis County prosecutors in January for robbing the First Bank branch inside the Brentwood Dierberg’s store on Jan. 7. And according to the Webster-Kirkwood Times, he also played a role in robbing the U.S. Bank inside a Schnuck's grocery store in Maryland Heights and two bank robberies in Des Peres.
