Man Accused of DWI Was Driving While Revoked

Paul Tripp, who is serving sentences for dealing drugs and dumping a woman's body after she overdosed on heroin, is accused of DWI after leading police on a high-speed chase.

A Florissant man, who is accused of leading police on a high-speed chase while driving drunk Jan. 10, not only was on parole at the time but was driving with a revoked license. Paul Allen Tripp, 28, of the 1300 block of Flicker Drive, pleaded guilty April 30 to driving while revoked. At the time, Tripp was on parole after being sentenced in February 2012 to two years in prison for abandoning a Maryland Heights woman’s body after she died from a heroin overdose. Tripp dumped a woman, Valerie Butler, near Prouhet Farm Road in Bridgeton. Her body was found several weeks later. The medical examiner said Butler died of acute heroin intoxication. Paul Tripp Takes Police on High Speed Chase after Recent Prison Release, Crashes in Hazelwood

Pine Lawn Police said Tripp, a man convicted of dumping Valerie Butler's dead body, drove up to 130 mph trying to escape the police.

A Florissant man who was just released from jail in September is accused of leading police on a drunken high-speed chase Thursday morning that ended in Hazelwood.  Authorities say Paul Alan Tripp, 28, sped away from them during a traffic stop around 3:00 a.m. Pine Lawn Police chased Tripp on Interstate 70 to I-270 and then to Highway 370 before he crashed in the City of Hazelwood at Aubuchon and Missouri Bottom Roads. Pine Lawn Police Officer John Bernsen said Tripp drove at speeds near 130 mph before he crashed into farmland and was then taken into custody. He was charged with Felony DWI, resisting arrest and Careless and Imprudent Driving charges. Bail was set at $40,000. This is reportedly his fourth DWI. Authorities say they plan to …

Paul Tripp Sentenced to Two Years in Valerie Butler Case

Florissant resident Paul Tripp got that sentence for abandonment of a corpse, which is an addition to his previous five-year sentence.

Almost one year to the day that Valerie Butler died, the man responsible for dumping her body in a field in Bridgeton has been sentenced. St. Louis County Circuit Court Judge Steven Goldman sentenced Florissant resident Paul Tripp to two years in prison for abandoning Butler’s body early last year. He pleaded guilty to the charge last month. More than 10 people, including her fiancé, family and friends, gathered in the back of the courtroom wearing “In Loving Memory of Valerie Butler” T-shirts to hear the sentence Friday morning. Tripp Pleads Guilty to Corpse Abandonment

Paul Tripp, who was accused of abandoning the body of Valerie Butler, pleaded guilty Jan. 3.

Paul Tripp pleaded guilty to abandonment of a corpse on Jan. 3, according to CaseNet. Tripp was accused of leaving the body of Valerie Butler last February. He was arrested on March 13. Tripp's stentencing hearing is scheduled for Feb. 10.

The pretrial conference for a man accused of abandoning the corpse of a Maryland Heights woman was continued to Aug. 25.

Paul Tripp, a man accused of abandoning the body of a Maryland Heights woman, has had his pretrial conference continued to Aug. 25. He was originally set to have the court date on Aug. 12, according to CaseNet, but the date was rescheduled. Tripp was incarcerated recently after his probation was revoked. His next court appearance is scheduled for 9 a.m. Aug. 25.

Tripp Gets Incarcerated After Probation Revoked

Paul Tripp, who is accused of dumping the body of a Maryland Heights woman, will spend five years incarcerated after his probation was revoked.

Paul Tripp, who is accused of abandoning the body of Valerie Butler, will spend the next five years incarcerated. The St. Louis County Attorney's office told Maryland Heights Patch that Tripp's probation was revoked. CaseNet confirmed Tripp received probation after pleading guilty to a drug charge last December in St. Charles County. The court revoked that probation, and he was then sentenced to five years incarceration in July. Tripp is scheduled to have a pretrial conference for the corpse abandonment charge on Aug. 12.

Police cite three facts to back up their suspicions that Paul Tripp abandoned Valerie Butler's corpse in early February.

Florissant Police arrested Paul A. Tripp on March 13 for abandonment of a corpse. Authorities suspect he abandoned the body of Valerie Butler, a Maryland Heights woman who went missing in early February. Thanks to the probable cause statement, provided by the St. Louis County Prosecutor's office, Patch has more information on the arrest. Officials believe Tripp abandoned Butler's body on Feb. 11. Police cite three facts to support that belief: Tripp is already serving a five-year probation sentence for drug charges, according to Missouri's Case Net system, which he pleaded guilty to in 2010.

Florissant Police Make Arrest in Connection with Valerie Butler Case

Paul Tripp has been arrested for abandonment of a corpse.

On Sunday afternoon, the Florissant police announced the arrest of Paul A. Tripp in connection to the Valerie Butler investigation. On Friday, according to KSDK reports, authorities labeled Tripp as a person of interest in the case.  The body of Valerie Butler, a Maryland Heights woman who went missing in early February, was discovered in Bridgeton on March 3.  Tripp has been charged with abandonment of a corpse, and his bond has been set at $50,000. He's been transferred to the St. Louis County jail, according to a press release.

Body Identified as Valerie Butler

Florissant Police confirmed Thursday afternoon a body found in Bridgeton was that of missing woman.

Updated at 5 p.m. The Florissant Police Department announced late Thursday afternoon that a body found near Prouhet Farm Road and Ferguson Lane in Bridgeton was that of Valerie Butler.  Police discovered the body of a female in the late morning hours Thursday and had not been able to positively ID the body until late afternoon.  The police identified Butler after matching her fingerprints.  Butler has been missing since Feb. 11. Maryland Heights Patch previously reported Butler was last seen at the Handlebars in Florissant. Florissant Police said an immediate cause of death was unclear. The St. Louis County Medical Examiner's Office will conduct an autopsy.

This is a very sad time for her family. I am ashamed of what others have said regarding Valerie Butler. I know the Gator's Bar that she was in and my husband goes to that bar and it is NOT a seedy place. It is run by a caring, family couple who helped tremendously with the police in search of Valerie.
