Maryland Heights Officer Who Was Shot in 2010 Reflects During Police Week

Detective Sgt. Joe Eagan, who was shot in the line of duty in 2010, talks about police week and the update on his current condition.

National Police Week always holds a special place in the heart of police officers and other law enforcement individuals across the country, but for Maryland Heights Police Officer Joe Eagan, it’s a truly special time. “There is nothing like this week, to see artifacts and notes people left at the [National Law Enforcement Officer Memorial] wall,” Eagan said. “It’s a very moving week.” The memorial sits in Washington D.C. and lists the names of federal, state and local officers who have been killed in the line of duty. Eagan said he visited the memorial 10 years ago. Eagan hails from a law enforcement family with his brother, brother-in-law, daughter and cousin all working police officers and knows the dangers of the job all too well. In …

Intoxicated Woman Reports Her Sister and She Abducted, Thrown in River

Police and fire officials spent part of Sunday searching a creek near the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater.

The Maryland Heights Police Department is relieved a call about two women being abducted was a false alarm. Chief of Police Bill Carson said law enforcement responded to the scene where a woman said her sister in she were in grave danger, following Sunday's Pointfest concert at Verizon Wireless Amphitheater. "We had a very, very intoxicated young woman report that she had been abducted along with her sister," Carson said. "(She said) that her sister had been thrown into the creek near the amphitheater and that she had last seen her floating away down the creek." Council Approves New Police Car, Polygraph Machine

The Maryland Heights Police Department is short one vehicle following an accident.

Maryland Heights City Council approved a new purchase within the city's police department at Thursday's meeting. The department will be getting a 2012 Dodge Charger for $24,168 from Lou Fusz Chrysler Jeep Dodge. The department is experiencing the need for a new vehicle due to one of the department's other patrol cars being totaled. "This vehicle will replace #109 which was involved in an accident on February 27, 2013 and determined a total loss by the insurance company," Maryland Heights Police Chief Bill Carson wrote to the mayor and council. The police department has also determined the need to purchase a new polygraph machine. Council approved increasing the general fund portion of the 2013 budget by $24,200 in order to purchase the new…

The department is partnering with the DEA for the anonymous, free, no questions asked event.

Whether you have some old pain pills in the medicine cabinet and you don't know what to do with them; or you got your hands on some pills that don't belong to you, the Maryland Heights Police Department (MHPD) is giving you an opportunity this month to get rid of the medicine, no questions asked. In partnership with the Drug Enforcement Administration, April 27 is the day to take advantage of the offer. Updated: Two in Critical Condition After Plane Crashes Into Creve Coeur Lake

Police have confirmed that a private plane has crashed into Creve Coeur Lake in Maryland Heights.

Updated at 10 a.m. with new information from Maryland Heights Police Russell Hazelton, the pilot of the plane that crashed into Creve Coeur Lake Wednesday evening, died overnight in SSM DePaul hospital, police officials said Thursday morning.  Hazelton's wife, Suzanne, remains in critical condition. - - - - Original Post - - - -  Two are in critical condition at DePaul Hospital after a single-engine private airplane crashed into Creve Coeur Lake Wednesday evening. Local media report a local police officer has been hit by a vehicle on Roth HIll Drive.

A Maryland Heights police officer was taken to a hospital Wednesday after being hit by a vehicle. KSDK News reports the officer was hit on Roth Hill Drive around Wednesday afternoon. KMOV reports police chased a suspect through backyards on Marine and Schulte Hill Drive.
