ReplyPRC, I wouldn't necessarily read that to mean Pattonville "fell way short", and I don't say that because I cover the school either. When you play different sports, there is not a focus on one....you can debate the merits of specializing, but that's not really the point. Different sports condition athletes in varying ways. Plenty of athletes from some of the elite programs around St. Louis have graduated to find that the college expectation at Division 1 is something entirely different alltogether.

ReplyJust to clear up any confusion, I'm taking the word typical out of quotes because it was not a direct quote. Pool was trying to make the point that she hasn't heard from residents who are not deeply rooted to a side in this case, pointing to the fact that before she became involved in city government, she didn't scour every city council meeting agenda for every last detail like an activist or a reporter might.
We'll have plenty of coverage from the meeting, to be sure. -

ReplyEllisville Mom, unrelated to this story, I've checked with the district about attendance zones and was told that Rockwood students from Ellisville and Ballwin attend Marquette and Lafayette. We're happy for all the schools which made the list!

ReplyMr. Kent, you are correct. Nothing is free. But it is a service that costs nothing else extra to the resident. My apologies if that hasn't been clear in the reporting, which always strives for accuracy. That's the great thing about comments is that you can flesh out points that sometimes don't make it into the original piece.
